12-31-2011: Vicious Rumors - Murderball

Probably my favorite single song to come out this year.  From the great comeback album from an old, under-appreciated metal band, Vicious Rumors called "Razorback Killers"!

The Quiet Room - Reason For Changes

Before the digital age of ipods and torrents there was something called CD's. I went through a few of mine ,of which, I have not seen in ages. One stood out. The Quiet Room. I have not seen or heard the music of this band in probably 5 years or better. How sweet it can be to rediscover a great CD?

12-30-2011: W.A.S.P - I Wanna Be Somebody

I realize I've started a trend of posting the first song I ever heard by a band, so I'm going to continue that here today.  My buddy Lance let me borrow his W.A.S.P cassette back in 1998 and I was instantly hooked when I heard this song and the rest of that epic album.

12-29-2011: Slayer - Raining Blood

I'm in a somewhat foul mood today, so I pick the quintessential "pissed off" metal song.  Enough said.

12-28-2011: Fates Warning - Life in Still Water

One of the first Fates Warning songs I ever heard, it still stands to me as one of their best.  I never knew James LaBrie was guest singing on here until recently either.  Hopefully we hear some more Fates Warning one day here soon.

12-27-2011: Iron Savior - Iron Savior

Back in 1997, it was incredibly difficult to find power metal.  You pretty much used Helloween as your gateway, then started researching from there.  One day during that time, shortly after we discovered Helloween and subsequently Gamma Ray, on a trip to the Missing Link (a now defunct, kick-ass metal CD shop in St. Louis), The Tasteless Wine Critic opted for Iron Savior's self titled debut on the recommendation of Frank (the Missing Link's proprietor).  Needless to say, we were not disappointed.  I think we both shit our pants a bit when this song came on for the first time.  A car speaker may have been blown as well, but I'm not sure on that one.

Overkill - Bring Me the Night

From their 2010 album "Ironbound". This was not only one of Overkill's best albums but also one of the greatest albums of 2010.

12-26-2011: Helloween - The Departed (Sun is Going Down)

I never liked 2000's "The Dark Ride" until like 6 months ago, I was on a huge Helloween kick and decided to give it another try.  This song is what caught me and now I like the whole album.  Go figure.

12-25-2011: Halford - Get Into the Spirit

I am no fan of Christmas music.  However, this original Christmas song from Halford is just what you need to brighten a metalhead's Christmas when you want to puke after hearing the same tired old crap year after year.  Sneak this one into your parents' iPod before your family event and enjoy!

12-24-2011: Accept - Beat the Bastards

The opener for Accept's latest (and greatest) album, "Blood of the Nations"!  Whenever the Tasteless Wine Critic calls, I'm lucky enough to hear this song!  Well worth your time.

12-23-2011: Tarot - Midwinter Nights (2011)

If I had to choose album of 2011, it's this!  Tarot's first album, "The Spell of Iron" re-recorded sounds better than ever, and this is the highlight of it for me.  Great song in 1986 or 2011!

12-22-2011: Brainstorm - Falling Spiral Down

Like my Primal Fear pick, its the Brainstorm song that started it all for me.  Just happens to be from Downburst which the Tasteless Wine Critic and I both agree is their strongest album.

The sites first 2011 post.  This video is insane, humorous, weird and disturbing.  Awesome!

12-21-2011: Rush - 2112

To the rest of the world who writes their dates correctly, today is 21-12-2011.  So in that honor, we give you one of Rush's greatest songs, 2112!  Maybe not pure "metal", but few metalheads will say they dislike Rush.

12-19-2011: Grim Reaper - See you in Hell

I'll never forget when Beavis and Butthead watched this video!  They HATED the scream at the end, and now it's an unforgettable metal moment.  I think it even made VH1's "Most Metal Moments" list.  Great song, though.

12-18-2011: Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King

Continuing from yesterday's post of awesome music videos that just make you laugh, who can forget the epic 1987 masterpiece from Savatage, Hall of the Mountain King!

12-16-2011: Scorpions - Alien Nation

I have fond memories of this song.  First, my buddy Joe used to do a wrestling pose to it, which was classic!  I really liked this song when I heard it on the radio, then my Mom got the cassette and the rest of the album sucked!  Anyway, this is easily my favorite Scorpions song, Alien Nation from 1993's Face the Heat!

12-15-2011: Primal Fear - Chainbreaker

This is the first Primal Fear song I ever heard back in 1998.  I can honestly say this band changed the way I thought about metal forever.  This song easily stands up to 13 years of time as well.  A great first song for MetalBytes Metal song of the day!
